| The New Trier Board of Education continues to consider options for the facility upgrade. In the past few weeks the environment has changed dramatically with challenges to the community's, nation's, and world's economic status. The result has been a rethinking about what is needed versus what is desired in the upgrade. On 11 March 2009 neighbors of New Trier High School meet with the school administration to learn about the current plan and to provide input. The presentation can be downloaded from here. This presentation discusses the impact on the neighborhood of traffic, size, and home values. On 01 April 2009 the NTHS Administration will present a Community Meeting and Campus Tour, starting at 6:00 p.m. in Room 359, Winnetka. (see www.newtrier.k12.il.us/facilities) On 06 April 2009 the School Board will be holding a Special Meeting to discuss the high school facility upgrade. The Board may be accepting the proposed Long Range Plan for the school. There should be opportunity for community comment. The meeting will be at the Northfield campus, C234 Board - Multipurpose Room, at 6:00 pm. Participate in the process. For at least the near term this Web site will continue to provide information regarding the options under consideration by the Board for a facilities upgrade(s). We are citizens from the New Trier School District who wish to open a dialogue about the renovation requirements of New Trier High School facilities.
We seek more information, and we wish to make that information available to the entire taxpaying community.
We believe, as taxpaying citizens, we have an obligation to inform ourselves to the greatest extent possible about the needs, choices, implications, and costs related to New Trier’s buildings, New Trier’s salaried staff, and the future needs of each of the K-8 districts we also support.
